Itaru stays home while Shiro leaves for an observation survey of butterflies. Itaru stares at his father's specimens and invites his friends over. He starts recording his observations in his own report. When Shiro returns, they have dinner and share memories. Shiro opens his son's computer with a strange feeling about the specimens in his room.Three years later, Shiro receives a letter from Anna.

Il lato oscuro delle farfalle necessitava maggior focus, ma anche così lo sguardo-racconto di Itaru mostra davvero i due lati dell'umanità: il compimento è lucido, la scoperta di Shiro agghiacciante,il finale con Anna sconvolgente. Non si sfugge ai geni.

Alcune cose le ho trovate parecchio forzate, come la doppia natura dei ragazzi, ma con pregi e difetti tiene incollati allo schermo. Ottima interpretazione di Shiro-sensei e buona anche quella del figlio.
